Signup for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) will continue until April 6, 2012. CRP is a voluntary program which offers producers the opportunity to use environmentally sensitive land for conservation benefits which improve water quality, control soil erosion, and develop wildlife benefits. Producers enrolling in CRP plant long-term, vegetative covers in exchange for rental payments. Cropland not currently enrolled in CRP and expiring CRP contract acres may be offered during this sign-up provided all eligibility requirements are met. Offers for CRP contracts are ranked according to the Environmental Benefits Index (EBI) to be gained from enrolling in CRP. For additional information concerning the CRP or other agricultural programs offered by USDA, please contact the Montgomery/Cheatham FSA office at 931-368-0252 extension 2.
