It is July already and school starts in a little over a month! We are very excited about the upcoming school year at Harpeth Middle School. We wanted to introduce ourselves to all of the students, parents, teachers, and community members we will be working with throughout this next year.
My name is Lucas Winstead and I have been at William James Middle School the past seven years. The first six years I taught 8th grade Language Arts and Math while this past year I served as Assistant Principal. I grew up in Kingston Springs and attended KSES, HMS, and HHS. I am humbled and excited about the opportunity to return to South Cheatham to serve the community that helped to raise me. I want to welcome any of you who desire to do so to come by the school and introduce yourself to me. My office hours will be posted on the front door each week so if you stop by and I am not there, feel free to come back. On July 14, we will be having a clean up day at the school starting at 8 am and lasting until we are ready to be finished. If you would like to help clean up the school and campus, just show up and bring any cleaning materials you might have (buckets, soap, rags, scrub brushes, etc.). We want the school to look its best when the students return next month. I look forward to meeting each of you and working alongside of you to help our students reach their full potential!
My name is Wendy Cox and after living in this great community for 17 years I am excited and eager to begin my new role in the Cheatham County school system as assistant principal at Harpeth Middle School. This will be my 17th year in Cheatham County as an educator. I have taught at Pleasant View and Kingston Springs Elementary schools during this time. I look forward to an exciting year working with Mr. Winstead as we promote a positive and successful academic experience for all of our students. I want to encourage parents of Harpeth Middle school students to become involved and active as we work toward providing each student with the academic needs and growth they each deserve. Please feel free to contact me at anytime as we work together to help your child be successful. I want to encourage the students of HMS to also get involved and be an active part in your academic success. Show your Indian Spirit wherever you go and how proud you are to attend Harpeth Middle School. I also want to encourage the community to get involved. Help us continue to build a strong middle school for our community and students to be proud to attend. Please read the Advocate weekly as we update everyone on the events and successes that we see at HMS. I am asking everyone in our great community to join us on July 14, 2012 for a HMS work day. Let’s get our school ready for a successful year.
