News from City Hall, Kingston Springs

The Activity Center in L.L. Burns Park is well under way now.  We are looking for a September 1st completion date.  This building will be used for city sponsored activities such as the Senior Citizens program, Art in the Park, classes, etc.   The time that is not being used for these programs will be available for public rentals for reunions, parties, weddings, meetings, etc.  Rental rates and policies are now available at City Hall.  Call 952-2110 for information.  We are now accepting bookings.  The official dedication and ribbon cutting will be Saturday, October 6th at Art in the Park.

Movie in the Park will be Saturday, July 21st in City Park.  Inflatable playgrounds and the concession stand will open at 6:30 and the movie will start at dark (around 8:30).  There is no admission charge and the popcorn is free.  Bring a chair or blanket and the whole family………except for the pets.  This month’s movie is Disney’s CARS 2 and is sponsored by Heritage Bank.  It should be a comfortable summer evening so treat the family to a movie.  Burgers and hot dogs will be available at the concession stand.

Tis the season for political signs.  If you want to put one in your yard, a good rule of thumb is to place them 25 feet from the center line of the road.  This will help assure that your sign is appropriately placed and will not be removed off of public property.  No signs of any kind can be attached to a tree, or signpost or fence.  This also applies to yard sale signs.  You can have one in your yard and a pointer sign in two other yards, but not on the roadside (public right-of-way).  Be sure to ask permission from the owner where you want to put your signs.

Avoid late fees and register for Fall soccer in the month of July.  If you wait until August it will cost you $25 more or you may be entirely too late to register.  Don’t put it off, just two and a half weeks left!!
