Larry Thomas Turner, Sr. announces his candidacy for Sixth District School Board.
He served previously on the Cheatham County School board from 1998-2002. He is a long time resident of Kingston Springs.
Larry has been involved in many activities, community and school events. He has been a coach of little league baseball and a coach of youth basketball. He is currently president of Cheatham County Youth Basketball Association. He has served on the Kingston Springs Fire Department as a fire fighter becoming fire chief for a time.
Larry retired from the State of Tennessee with 39 years of service. Recently he has been a school bus driver for the county and worked with the School Nutrition Department of Cheatham County.
He has been married 40 years to his wife, Candy. They have 8 children and 11 grandchildren . All of their children have attended Cheatham County Schools and they graduated from Harpeth High School. Because of his commitment to his family and community, Larry is very involved in many activities. He volunteers for many events and works hard at them. Cheatham County is a great place to raise and educate children. Larry cares much for Cheatham County. Larry wants the teachers to be able to teach, children to learn, and principals to run their schools. All achieving to their highest expectations. He has observed good and bad that has happened in the school system, and wants to make the good be much more. Everyone and everything needs to have the opportunity to achieve success and Larry wants success for Cheatham County Schools.
Larry wants to continue to raise the bar of excellence that Cheatham County Schools have achieved and deserve.
