Harpeth’s own Kevin Giltner is going Pro.
Giltner signed a one year deal to play for Keflavik Basketball Club based in the town of Reykjanesbaer, Iceland.
Kevin a Harpeth High School basketball standout and 2008 graduate went on to play for the Wofford College Terriers in Spartanburg South Carolina. With the Terriers he played on two NCAA Tournament Teams in his Sophomore and Junior years. In his Senior year he earned all Conference honors (Southern Conference) averaging 14.8 points a game, and led the team with 86 3- point shots. Kevin also ranked 8th in the nation in minutes played per game with 37.8
Kevin gives a lot of credit for his Pro Contract to his agency GoEmpire Group. He also thanks his family and friends for all their support, as well as his coaches and teammates over the years.
Kevin leaves for Iceland Sept. 12th and the first game of their season is Oct. 7th. He will spend the next couple of weeks working out in preparation for the upcoming season and catching up with friends and family before he leaves.
He may need to go shopping for a few more warm clothes than he normally keeps in his closet! According to Wikipedia, the average annual high in Keflavik is 44.2 degrees F, the average low is 36.4. Basically its pretty chilly, year round. Average rainfall is 47.4”, which is very similar to what he’s used to here in Tennessee.
Basketball is big in Keflavik, and hopefully big things are going to happen when Kevin gets to town!
