he Pegram Board of Mayor and Alderman met in regular session last Thursday night. All members were present.
Before the new Mayor and Aldermen were sworn in, Alderman Bob Sanders thanked Rick Roark for his service to the town during the past, occasionally rocky years. “This board was pretty splintered”, Sanders said, and thanked Roark for his dedication.
He also thanked Bill Herbert, Eugene Evans and Warren Miller for the way they responded to the problems of the past few years to “get this city back on track”.
Fire Chief Brent Stuart announced that the Cheatham County Firefighters Challenge is set for September 15th at 8:00 a.m. in Riverbluff Park in Ashland City. He invited everyone to come and cheer on your local volunteer firefighters.
Ordinance 2012 – 96 was approved unanimously on second reading. There was a public hearing on the ordinance before the meeting, with no comment.
Newly re-elected Mayor Charles Morehead was sworn in to his new term, followed by Bob Sanders and Bill Herbert who were both re-elected to another term as aldermen. Morehead stated that he believes “We can all get along and work together towards the betterment of the town”. Bill Herbert stated that the board has “our challenges, but we are in a position to meet them”, adding that “we have to approach them methodically”. Herbert was then elected vice mayor.
Morehead asked that discussion about sewer rates be deferred until so that he could get up to speed at the September Committee of the Whole meeting. A Public Hearing on the sewer rates was set for September 27th at 7p.m., before the next regular monthly meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
