What a wonderful week we had at HMS!!! We started the week off with Pajama Day on Monday. What a great way to start the week by wearing your pjs to school! Tuesday was Tacky Day and boy did we see some tacky students and teachers. Wednesday was Favorite Movie Character Day. HMS looked like a Hollywood movie set.
Thursday was the big day with Spirit Day, the Pep Rally, 5th and 6th grade Dance, and then the Homecoming football game and introducing of the court. Everyone had a great time at the Pep Rally with the 8th graders winning the spirit stick again! The band and cheerleaders did a fabulous job getting everyone excited about the big game against Waverly. The court was introduced at the pep rally and several of our teachers performed a dance routine for the students. The students seemed to enjoy seeing their teachers get their dance moves on. After school the 5th and 6th graders enjoyed a great dance. They were all showing their excitement and dance moves for a full two hours. Blaise Roberts won the dance contest.
Our JV and Varsity football teams played against Waverly and fought hard throughout the game for a win. During halftime the Homecoming Court was introduced to the pack stands. The Court consisted of the following young women and men: 5th grade- Sydney Allison escorted by Ty Holland, Savanna Page escorted by Maverick Rodriguez, and Emelia Hurt escorted by Cade Astern: 6th grade- Christian Miner escorted by Houston Crouch, Aaliyah Newcomb escorted by Dylan Capps, Hope Whitlow escorted by Coleman Minnis: 7th grade- Chaeli Foriest escorted by Jacob Greer, Zoey Hutton escorted by Henry Oakley, Hailey Sovine escorted by Mason Rodriguez: 8th grade: Lashawnda Carter escorted by Aaron Bell, Breanna Collins escorted by Will Miniat, Jordan Gracia escorted by Garrett Cox, and Molly Johnson escorted by Landon Higgs. Lashawnda Carter was crowned queen of the 2012 Homecoming Court.
Friday ended spirit week with Country Western Day. The 7th and 8th grade had a dance that evening hosted by the cheerleaders. Thank you to all the students, parents, teachers, and staff who made this week memorable and exciting.
