Run Through The Springs 5K Nov 3rd!

Next weekend, Saturday, November 3rd, is the Annual Run Through the Springs 5K. This year, more awards and different categories will add to this already fun event. This fun run/walk starts at 9 a.m. in L.L. Burns Park and winds through the downtown area, out Kingston Springs Road to Merrylog and back on a different path through downtown, finishing back at the park. Plan to come out and start your day with a brisk walk or run!

Of course there are the cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, male and female. But this year you can also elect to come in costume and qualify for a prize for best costume. You can also bring your canine to run/walk with you……and you can costume him also, for a chance at a prize. The first canine across the line also wins a first place in the canine race division, no matter what position his running partner might achieve! This year there are also prizes for the first registered team to bring 4 of its members across the finish line first. Costumes for the team are not required, but if your team dresses up then they qualify for a chance to win a prize for their creativity, even if they don’t win the team race! Teams can be as small as 4 people or as large as 12 people. (There is a great opportunity here to have a friendly challenge with your friends and neighbors!) If you register before October 26th, you will also receive an official event t-shirt. There will be goody bags for the participants and post-race healthy snacks. All participants receive an official event medal.

Fees for the race are: $30 by 10/26, $35 by 11/1, $40 day of race. There is a $5.00 discount for kids under 10. The fee for the canine race is $5. All proceeds benefit the park.

Downtown streets will be closed starting at 8:45. All roads downtown will be closed by 9:00 a.m. They will all be reopened by 10:00 a.m. at the latest. Please plan your arrival to the event accordingly. Come early enough to park and get into position. Downtown residents and non-participants need to plan their morning around the closed roads.

This is always a great event. Meet your friends or pack up the family and come down for a fun morning. Spectators are welcome!!

This event is sponsored by: Community Bank and Trust, RiverSprings Dental Group, Kingston Springs Pharmacy, Tri-Star Medical/Frist Clinic, Heritage Bank, McDonald’s Restaurant, Allison Voncolln Graphic Design and the Kingston Springs Parks and Recreation Department.
