Pegram United Methodist Church women are serving a delicious, Southern-style ham, white beans, and turnip greens luncheon and selling baked goods and Christmas crafts Sat., Nov. 17 to raise money for missions and ministries.
The Annual Bazaar and Bake Sale, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., offers great shopping and eating opportunities at the church in Pegram, 479 Thompson Road, across from the Pegram Park ball field. Orders for smoked 15-20 lb. turkeys for Thanksgiving, at $35 each, will also be taken.
The popular luncheon menu, served 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., has not changed in more than half a century. The old-time hot water cornbread recipe, prepared and passed on by Linda Hardin and other team members, is especially beloved by visitors.
Adult plates are $7; child plates are $5, with a chili or hot dog option. Each plate includes dessert and drink, and take out orders are welcome. For large advance orders call 646-6033.
For early birds, a breakfast of cinnamon rolls and coffee or juice is available.
Shoppers will find some tables full of home-baked goods and goodies, made by some of the best cooks in Pegram and Kingston Springs. Many specialties can be frozen for holiday serving. Other tables will be laden with homemade gifts decorations and Christmas crafts. Come early for best selection.
