Harpeth High School: Some Positive & Helpful Thoughts

Harpeth High School Honor Code: All Harpeth students shall embrace the courage to conduct themselves with INTEGRITY and HONESTY in every circumstance. We will treat all individuals with RESPECT and DIGNITY, celebrating the differences that make us unique.

Welcome back to all students and staff! We hope you thoroughly enjoyed your break and are ready to start anew.

As we begin a new year, we wonder. . .is your glass of water half-full or half-empty? Our attitudes can dictate how well 2013 will go for us. We are molded by family, friends, teachers, and the media. We make a choice to be positive or negative. Positive attitude adjustments include positive affirmations such as I am confident, have a lot to offer, and am a good person. Visualizing outcomes positively will affect our life and the lives of the people around us. We challenge you to strive for the positive.

Focusing can present a challenge. When you feel yourself losing focus, switch the type of task you are working on, the subject you are studying, or the environment that you are in. Take a break and walk around a bit. These ideas could make a difference in your success as a hard working student.

Harpeth High beliefs: We will treat all individuals with respect and dignity.

College tip: Complete college applications well before deadlines and comprise a resume to give to teachers, guidance counselors, coaches, or administrators when asking for a letter of reference.

Quote of the day: “To begin to think with purpose, is to enter the ranks of those strong ones who only recognize failure as one of the pathways to attainment.” James Allen

Wishing you peace and serenity much like that as a beautiful sunset. Happy New Year!!
