A big round of applause goes to Mrs. D and her advanced theatre class for two sterling performances this past weekend. They found the funny side of Edgar Allen Poe(there is one!) and performed “Poe-Dunked & More.” The show consisted of nine different scenarios. The actors included(in no particular order): Lori Hurt, Kimmy Matthews, Danielle Montgomery, Savannah Conley, Keelan Brothers, Lydia Gleaves, Taylor Stringer, Brandon Hamm, Megan Bunning, Katie Collins, and Breanna Becker. Due to the small class size, Mrs. D received eager volunteers who include Elizabeth Dixon as the sound engineer, Macy Pate for lighting, and Tyler Arrington working as the stage manager. Many thanks to everyone who had a part in this fine production It was funny and extremely enjoyable. Thanks to you all!! What talent we have at HHS!!

During the month of January, we stand committed in our resolve to carry out more acts of kindness. Here are some acts of kindness that have been witnessed at HHS: giving someone a compliment, smiling, encouraging a fellow student on a bad day, picking up trash, and writing a note of hope. What can you think of to be kind?

Food for thought: There are days when the burdens we carry chafe our shoulders and weigh us down; when our lives have no music in them and our souls have lost their courage. May we all encourage each other with a sense of comradeship realizing we are all full of promise and hope.

Upcoming events: Next deadline for the March 9 ACT test is February 8. Basketball: Jan. 12 home vs. Dickson at 4:00; ; Jan. 15 home vs. Stewart Co. at 6:30; Jan. 18 at Creekwood 6:30 game time.

Wrestling: Jan. 12 at Sycamore; Jan. 15 “Battle of the County” at Sycamore; Jan. 17 vs. Fairview/Clarksville at HHS.

College tip: At the onset of a new writing assignment you may feel overwhelmed, not knowing how to accomplish this or even where to begin. No worries! Make sure you understand the assignment. When is it due? Is it fiction or non-fiction? Set deadlines for each step and start early. These are key factors in making a good paper great and fun!

HHS belief: Communication is key in all aspects of education.

Quote of the week: “Tell me and I might forget, show me and I will remember; involve me and I understand.” Anon

Have a beautiful weekend!!
