Representative Mary Littleton has been named to the powerful House Transportation Committee, as well as the influential Health Committee and Subcommittee for the 108th Tennessee General Assembly. All three committees will play a key role in the upcoming legislative session.
“I am honored to be appointed to these committees by House Speaker Beth Harwell,” said Rep. Littleton. “I appreciate her confidence in me, and I thank the people of Dickson and Cheatham Counties for allowing me the opportunity to serve.”
Bills typically referred to the Transportation Committee deal with truck weights, safety regulations, highways, roads and bridges, as well as public works and utilities.
Legislation referred to the Health Committee is relevant to three major topical areas: mental health, public health, and human services. The committee also considers legislation relating to hospitals, other health or welfare institutions, and scope of practice matters for all healthcare professionals.
“The fiscal stability of our state is now more important than ever and I want to assure the people of our community that I will uphold my pledge of balancing our state budget while also reducing the size and scope of state government,” Littleton concluded.
Mary Littleton is serving her first term in the legislature. She lives in Dickson and represents District 78, which includes Dickson and Cheatham Counties.
