July 4th Celebration in Pegram

photo

Make it a day in Pegram on July 4th!

Start the day with a yummy pancake breakfast at Pegram United Methodist Church.

Make sure to bring a bag for all the candy you’re sure to get as Grand Marshal Brent Stuart leads the Annual Independence Day Parade! Brent has been leading our community in volunteerism for 21 years, serving as fireman, Captain, and now Chief, leading his men and families out of harms way, helping with his children’s baseball and softball teams and still being a dad and father and working full time. We’re so glad to recognize his many years of service to our community!

Parade route will be Hwy 70 to Weigela, right on Juniper and right on Dogwood, back to 70. Please be aware that Hwy 70 will be CLOSED during the parade! After the fireworks, traffic will be congested, as well.

Vendors include many different types of food, crafts, rides for the little ones, inflatables, a WATER SLIDE and a rock climbing wall!

There will be a wide variety of entertainment this year, as always. Be sure to be near the Pavilion at noon to hear the wonderful rendition of “The National Anthem” sung by Jennafer Russell, followed by The Oddfellows of Pegram Veterans Memorial Service. Randy Moomaw will recite one of his poems just before the Baby Pageant begins.

On the Grand Stage (left field stage), we will have song and dance by “The Way”, Virginia’s Music Center, David Mathews, Bandits, Jennafer, Melody and Emmy Russell and Josh Bunning, and the Harpeth Baptist Youth Group.

The night band will be “Livin’ the Dream”, playing classic rock favorites from 6:30-9:30, when we have the best fireworks show in the world!!

There are several changes in the schedule this year! Horseshoe signups will begin at 12:15 at the Horseshoe pit. Game will begin at 1:00.

Cornhole signups will be at 12:15 at the basketball court. Game time is 1:00.

Closest to the pin signups will be behind the old fire hall at 12:15, with game beginning at 1:00.

Pageant and hot dog eating signups will be to the left of the pavilion at 12:15. Please note that the pageant is starting at 1:00.

Hot dog eating contest will be at 5:00.

Megan and Mayor David McCullough will host the Newlywed/Not-So-Newlywed Game at 4:00.

T-shirts are available now at Finch’s, Eddie’s Hardware, Community Bank and Trust in Pegram, Heritage Bank, and Town Hall.

WE ARE ASKING EVERYONE WITH WATERGUNS TO PLEASE BE AWARE OF THOSE WHO DO NOT WANT TO BE SPRAYED!

A few vendor booths are still available, call 838-2217.

And don’t forget the Pegram Community Club’s BBQ

It’s BBQ time in Pegram!! The Pegram Community Club will be celebrating the 4th of July on Thursday at the Community Club beside the “Red Caboose” located at 453 Thompson Rd. at Hwy. 70 in Pegram TN 37143. Serving begins at 11:00am, and will continue until the BBQ is all gone. Plates will include pit BBQ pork shoulder, slaw, baked beans, tea & home baked desserts. Adult plates $8, Child’s plate $4, BBQ sandwiches $4. Soft drinks and Bottled water may be purchased for $1.00. BBQ may also be purchased at the pit beginning at 11:00am for $8 per pound.

**Save Time** Purchase your BBQ by the pound, directly from the pits located outside and behind the Community Club. Pit sales begin at 11:00am and BBQ is $8. per pound.

**In a hurry to get to the park?**This year we will have a tent set-up outside the Community Club and beginning at 11:00am we will sell BBQ sandwiches $4. Chips $1. Soft Drinks $1. and Bottled Water $1. So if you in a hurry to get to the Park, but still want to have a BBQ sandwich and “eat as you walk” stop on by and let us fix you up.

Over the past year The Club has accomplished several much needed improvements, many of which are not noticeable, but needed to be done. All of the plumbing has been replaced, and additional electrical outlets have been installed. In addition to the new roof over the main structure, the roof over the kitchen and back porch has been replaced too. Most of this work was donated by Club members or Pegram residents, with the Club paying for some of the materials. We have new lights outside the building and the sign board now has lights. The Caboose has been worked on and painted, and our Landscape committee is busy making plans to “spruce up” the grounds outside.

We are exited for the work that has been completed, but much more needs to be done. Our next BIG project is re-finishing the auditorium floors. With the Barbecue being one of the Club’s main fundraising events and all proceeds going back to the Club, we hope to have the best year ever. So come on and join us for great food and be a part of supporting a long-standing Pegram tradition. Look forward to seeing you!!
