Alert Concerned Citizen Makes The Right Call

Chadwell0001Saturday evening KSPD Officers were flagged down by a concerned citizen who stated that there was a suspicious man walking around the back parking lot of the “Fillin Station” looking into the windows of several different vehicles. KSPD Officer Thomas Royal made contact with Kingston Springs resident Randall Chadwell who was found standing between two vehicles in the back parking lot. Mr. Chadwell told police he was waiting for a friend. After speaking with Mr. Chadwell, officers searched his vehicle and found a woman’s purse which was identified as being stolen from a vehicle in the same parking lot moments before police arrived. Randall Chadwell was arrested and charged with Burglary of a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools and theft of property. His bond was set at $6,000 and will appear in court later in July.

This is a good reminder of two things.

1) NEVER leave valuables in your vehicle. The owner of the purse said that she had left the purse lying in the front seat.

2) If you see something suspicious call police. If your gut feeling tells you that something isn’t right, it usually isn’t. Call KS police at 792-2098 to report ANY suspicious activity, the sooner you call the sooner officers can get there. In this case officers were quickly notified and able to arrive before the suspect left the scene.
