Thelma Dean Daugherty Heflin Huffines, loving and loyal wife, mother and grandmother, 82, of Ashland City, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at her home.

She was of Irish aristocracy, an entrepreneur, a founding member of the Cheatham County Historical and Genealogical Association, an avid flower gardener and a true politician.

She was preceded in death by her son, Charles W. Heflin; three brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, R.D. Huffines; daughter, Joan Mayfield of Nashville and Lisa (Jeff) Cook of Springfield; grandchildren, Christopher Etheridge, Austin Sherry, Katie Cook and Sophie Cook; great-granddaughter, Miranda Roberts-Vaden; one brother; and one sister.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Life House Fellowship Church, 223 Gifford Place in Joelton. For directions, call 615-428-6202.
