Verlon Thompson may not be a household name, but he has the songwriting credentials that most songwriters only dream about. His songs have been recorded by a wide variety of artists including Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson, Anne Murray, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis, Del McCoury, Sam Bush, Trisha Yearwood and many more.
He is a great picker and his guitar work cannot go unnoticed. He can be heard on recordings by Restless Heart, Pam Tillis, and many more, including, and especially Guy Clark.
He co-produced Guy Clark’s Grammy nominated project “Cold Dog Soup” as well as “The Dark”, “Workbench Songs” and “Somedays the Song Writes You”.
Join him for a rare local performance to benefit the Musical Heritage Center of Tennessee in Pegram and its programs. The MHC offers many activities that are free to the public. The benefit will help with operational expenses to keep these programs going and underwrite their high quality special events. The center also has an outreach fund specifically dedicated for those who need some financial assistance with music lessons.
Concert tickets are $20 via Eventbrite and at the door. The show will begin Saturday, November 23rd at 7pm at the Fiddle & Pick building, 456 Highway 70 in Pegram, TN 37143.
