Harpeth Wrestling Team’s Triple Threat

The Harpeth Wrestling Team advanced three wrestlers into the championship finals of The Creek Wood Invitational wrestling tournament this past weekend at Creek Wood High School.

James Sokol at 120lbs, Jason Fennell at 126lbs, and Dakota Clark at 132lbs were all tournament finalists. Sokol and Fennell won titles while Clark finished runner-up.

Jason Fennell, a senior defeated two A-AA State ranked wrestlers on his way to winning the 126lbs championship. One of those wrestlers was Seth Douglas from Sycamore High School who is ranked number two in the state polls.

James Sokol, a junior from Harpeth dropped from the 126lbs division to the 120lbs division to defeat Hayden Hammonds from Eagleville High School. Hammonds is currently ranked second in the A-AA State polls. Sokol himself is ranked number three in the state polls at 126lbs.

Dakota Clark, a junior pinned three opponents to advance to the championship round where he lost a close 5-1 battle against his opponent from Independence High School.

Harpeth High School juniors, Caleb Coltrane and Alex Paseur medaled this past weekend. Paseur placed third at 132lbs while Coltrane placed third at 152lbs.

The Harpeth Wrestling will travel to Montgomery Central and White House this week for competition. Harpeth freshmen, Daelyn Rose and Teddy Potter will compete in the Middle Tennessee Freshmen Grand Championships at McGavock High School on Saturday, January 18, 2014.
