The Kingston Springs Cardinals 6th grade boys accomplished their goal, completing their 12-0 perfect season with a dominating 33 to 19 victory over the Pleasant View Panthers.

The Cardinals started off slowly but had an 8 to 7 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. They pulled away in the 2nd quarter with some suffocating defense, not allowing the Panthers to score. By halftime the score was Kingston Springs 17 – Pleasant View 7. The Cardinals were on their way to the championship.

The Cardinals came out strong in the 3rd quarter and midway through blew the game wide open, stretching their lead to 27 to 7. The celebration had begun. The Panthers closed the gap by the end of the game making the final score KS 33 – PV 19.

The Cardinals had 5 different players to lead them in scoring throughout the season in different games. Today it was Taylor McCoy’s turn to step up, scoring 8 of his season high 10 points in the 2nd quarter when the Cardinals put the game away. Luke Gossett was his smooth self breaking down the defense with his drives to the hole while also scoring 10 points. Rounding out the scoring was Brandon Collins with 5, Cade Astren with 4, Grant Patterson and Eli Whitlow with 2 each.

Throughout the year if someone had an off game, there was always someone else to pick up the slack. Defensively this team was superb, their offense fed off their defense providing many easy baskets.

Enjoy being the Champs, you guys deserve it. This was a great way to go out.

Thanks again to Jason Graham for helping out with the team. A special thanks to Josh Astren for his time and for teaching these boys the right way. Not a bad way to end your coaching career! Only one more thing to do…let’s go to “HOOTERS”!!!
