Independence Day is Just Around the Corner

fireworks2Just twelve more weeks and it will be here…My how this year has flown!  We are very excited as the planning for this event evolves.  It will for sure be a great time. If you have not started building, at least think about,  your float for the parade.   Everyone is invited to participate.  As in the past, there will be trophies for the following categories:  Best Little League, Best Float (other than Little League), Best Motor Vehicle, Best Antique Motor Vehicle (25 yrs or older), Most Unusual Entry and of course, Best of Parade!

We want to remind your of the parade rules.  ALL bike and motor ATV entries MUST wear helmet.  If the rider is under 18 yrs old, they MUST be accompanied by an adults.  Political floats are limited to two entries. The parade entries will be judged based on the theme.  We request that riders do not shoot people in the crowd and sides of the road, especially the elderly and anyone with camera or recording devices.  We want to keep this fun for all involved but ask that you use courtesy in this matter.

Once again we proudly announce our theme Building a Better Community based on the works of our three grand marshals, Tony Jenkins, Ethan, Hurt and Eli Hurt. We would like to publically recognize and thank them for their dedication.  We will provide pictures and more about these men in next week’s article.  As for now, we want to elaborate on the days events.

The event will begin with the tasty pancake breakfast at the Pegram United Methodist Church at 6:30am followed by a parade of clowns, scouts, ball teams, soldiers, music, cars, fire trucks, cheerleaders, animals and many others.

After the parade, please make sure you come to the day stage under the Pegram Park pavilion as Bethany Buchanan performs the National Anthem.  Bethany if a very beautiful and talented young lady and we are honored to have her begin our park festivities.

There will be games, food, face painting, crafts, rides, animals, socializing, music and fireworks.  Plan to come to Pegram on July 4th for the a time you won’t forget!!

We are still accepting applicants from bands wishing to be considered.  If interested, please submit a sample of  your music on CD with portfolio or narrative with your contact information in closed envelope marked “Pegram July 4th/Band” to Pegram City Hall at PO Box 249, Pegram, TN 37143 by April 30, 2014.  Each submission will be reviewed and listen to by the committee for selection.

There is also booth space rental, first come first serve basis.  These spaces are 10×12 feet and $40.00 for non electric/$50.00 for electric, profit…$10.00 for non-electric/$15.00 for electric, nonprofit.  In hopes to trying not to duplicate the sale or service of products, we ask that you identity product at the time of reservations.  There is a limited amount of electricity spaces.  For reservations, please call 615/406-9516.
