Cheatham County WWII Veterans at last year’s ceremony.

The second annual Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony will be held May 26th 10:00AM at the Ashland City Riverbluff park pavilion. This year’s Master of Ceremonies will again be our County Service Officer (Bob Counter). The ceremony begins by honoring the US, Tennessee, and POW flags (provided by State Representative Mary Littleton) and singing of the Star Spangled banner. Korean War Veterans will lay a memorial wreath at the foot of the flags in tribute to fallen comrades. Scheduled to speak and offer words of thanks to our Veterans are Mary Littleton along with Cheatham County and city mayors. After the formal ceremony the Veterans Operations Committee (John Haines, Donnie Jordan and Doris Sanders) along with Tommy Pardue will host a cookout on the pavilion grounds. Special thanks go out to the Cheatham County Veterans Advisory Committee (Walter Weakley, James Hedgepath, James Jenkins, James Cripps, Nick Seat, and Darwin Newton) for their efforts again this year. Everyone is encouraged to come out and show their support to our Veterans as well as honor the memories of our local fallen military.
