There are four new black belts at Elite Martial Arts in Kingston Springs.
On Friday, August 15th, 2014 Harpeth Middle School 6th-graders Mary Byrd and Shelby Scott, along with Reagan Gusty (4th grade KSES) and Alex Latham (5th grade East Hickman Intermediate) survived a grueling two-hour test to earn their first-degree black belts in karate.
The students study under the direction of Elite Martial Arts owner and 7th-degree black belt Harry Klapheke.
All have vowed to continue their training and attain their second-degree belts together, a first in school history according to Master Klapheke.
