Sun. 1- Frost this morning and ice. Plentey of it. Benton seen Garner yesterday. Lish still out. Will stop till night. Dick Hooper, Dick Lovell, Wourldford, Bill Dozier, Asa Dozier , Ewing Hooper hear today. Lish come home. Benton gon up the creek to Ewings. Squir Greer staid all night. Allso Wourldford. Will stop till the next time.
Mon. 2- Cold and frost and ice. Greer gon to Ashland. Pat gon up the creek. Went yesterday. Wouldford at Rusteys. Paid Boy Crouch 35 cts. Paid Jordan 36 cts give Henry. Julius makeing ties. Allso Dick Hooper. Woulford gon to work with Rustey. Lish working on the house. Clear all day. Convention at Ashland today. Greer at Tom Chrouches to night. Dick hunting. Allso Julius.
Tue. 3- Frost and ice this morning. Well I will stop till night. Pat hear all night. Dock Allen hear today. Sold out 3000.
Wen. 4- Down yet. Cant work. Lish gone to Dodges store. Pat hear. WIll stop till night. Benton up the creek. Pat had a chill. Sheppard hear today. Paid him 2.40.
Thur. 5- Still down. Not able to work. Murshel Allen Woufful Chandler hear to day. Lish went to Dodges store. Raind all day. River falling. Pat hear.
Fri. 6- Not able to work. Lish gon to Nashville. Cloudey this morning. Pat hear. Going to rain today or I think it will. Dick and Julius  makeing ties. Will stop till night. Will stop till night. Nannie Clark married Wednesday April 4th 1906 so I see in the American. May she live long and a happey life.
Sat. 7- Lish in Nashville. Tom Work hear last night. I am not able to work. Pat hear. Julius makeing ties. Benton up the creek. Ice this morning. I think Lish will come home today. I sit in the house and do nothing all day. I dont like it. I had rather be at hard work but my days are all most sent and I am afraid my injoyment at work is past. When I was well it was a joy to me to work. I injoyed life at my work. Ther was life and pleasure in it and I now have found out that work is a pleasure. Ther is no injoyment in doing nothing but sorrow and trouble will follow the lazey men throught life. A man should learn to love work so he can appriaciat life. Mary cleaning the yard. She had better let it a lone. Well I will stop till night. Dick Lovell hear to day. Dock Crouch is not able to do much. I dont think he will eaver get well. He is going the way of all the earth. He may live till next year but I dont think so. A fruit agent hear today. Guss Riggan lost his mair. Jo Fogus left his wife so I hear.
Sun. 8- Me and Mary bey our selves today. Lish come home last night. I lost 15 dollars. Stold in Nashville. Lish gon up the creek to see Ewing. Me and wife will live in peace from to day. If we dont is shall be her fault. Not mine. Now this may seem strange to some folke but some pople nearerlearn nothing till it is two late to proffit bey it. Some practice things they dont beleave whitch is wrong but all will come home in the course of time. When ther is no remedey. Just as soon as I get able to work I will get at it this Sunday April the 8 1906. Woulford and Pat all night.
Mon. 9- Pat hear. Age hear to day. Dick Lovell hear today. Woulford hear to day. Ewing staid all night. I am not able to work. Dock Allen, Spunk Allen hear Sunday.
Tue. 10- Clear and warm this morning. Raind Sunday. Ewing gon home. Benton had a chill yesterday. Age left a jack with Egbert Hooper so Age told me. I dont think I will go the reunion. Lish all night at Boy Crouches store. By gon to town. Pad Jordan bought a mule 150 so I hear. Woulford working for Rustey.
Wen. 11- Clear this morning. Hearey blasting on the rail road below Ashland. Will stop till night. Pat gon. Left yesterday morning. Bill Dozier and son hear yesterday. Julius lost 10 dollars Sunday bey fire. Burnt up his tools. Burnt up his tools. I am still out of shape. Not able to work. Well I know one thing and that is this. I have a good woman and I am proud of her. Well I will quit before I right a hold page. If I could spell I would wright out my life from 55 to 1906. But my spelling is too bad. But I have found out this one thing in this life. You must grapple the Wourld like it belonged to you in all things. What so eaver you do be shure you are right. Take the word of God for your guide. Truth for your landmark. Honestey as your hope of success, Kindness for your compainin that it may be well with you in this life. Train your thought to ward the heavenly city of God that it may be well with you hear after. Controle the toungue and the rest will be easey. Hope, Love, and mercy go hand and hand to gether in this life. Lay hold on them. Hold them with you that they may comfort you in the last days of your life. Cultivate peace for it is a great blesing from God to man and woman. Look on the bright side of life. The godley side for the dark days is shure to come when you are not looking for them. Love and serve the Lord and you dark days will flee from  you. If you will do this God will bless you and you will walk the streets of the Holy City of God. Wher the weeked ceas from troubling and the weary be at wrest. Mrs. Work and children hear to day. John Banister hear to sveay. Londed Dick and Julius twentey five dollar to day.
Thur. 12- Ewing Hooper, Tom Work, WOuldford hear to day. Brok the garden. Londe Ewing ten dollars to buy peaches timber from Guss Riggan. 86 today. Hottest day we have had.
Fri. 13- Planting out the garden today. lish staid all night at Dicks last night. I think it will rain today. Dock Crouch died to day.
Sat. 14- John, Rustey come to see me today. Benton come home. Minnie Puckett and sister hear today. Bill Dozier and son hear today. Turning cold or cooler. 80 at 12oclock.
Sun. 15- John Woufford hear today. Lish staid all night at Rusteys last night. Dock Allen hear today. Mary gon to burring. Dock Crouch buried today. I am hear bey my self. Well I will stop till night. Benton gon to the burring . All so Lish. I am still not able to work. Do nothing but ghrunt. I am afraid to leave home. Benton up to Ewings.
Mon. 16- Lish gon to Ashland. Cool today. I have all ways been a good friend to Charley Russell but he don’t beleave it. I put him whear his is at. In and thrue me he got his jobe. He has ben miss led bey other popple talking to him owe. Upwell goes his jobe if I dont hold it for him. Popple dont know that I am in the cross tie business at all. Charley dont know that I worked for the Moss tie pople. Mrs. Puckett and 2 daughters hear. Allso Ben Jordan.
John Rustey Hooper, Bill Dozier and son hear. Will stop till night. Lish come home. Spent $2.00 two dollars to day. 3.00 dollars yesterday.
Tue. 17- Morris come over. Frost this morning. Going to town to day. Will stop. Dr. Sneer come down. Julius makeing ties him and Dick. Bill plowing. Whet to John Crouches. Staid all night me and mary. Ferage to stone 10 cts. Earth quake in California.
Wen. 18- Went to Nashville me and Mary. Paid walkup 3.75 cts for Dick. Car fair 90 cts. Staid all night at Will Hunters. Seen Lon Cox.
Thur. 19- All night with Dr. Sneer me and Mary. Let Lish have 10 dollars. Bought wyre from Anderson. One thousand lbs 27.50.
Fri. 20- At Dr. Hoopers me and Mry. Staid all night ther. Spent $50.00 for stuff to put in the house. Paid Tom Hamlton one dollar. Paid allen 50 cts. Loand Allen 25.00 dollars. Wolford staid all night. Allso Patrick and son.
Sun. 22- Collins, Pairlee Lovell, Wolford, Patrick, Mrs. Work and children, Bill Collins, John Harper, Nan Harper and son, Jack Work, Dick Lovell, Bill Dozier, Asa Dozier, Dick Hooper, Annie Hooper, Marsh Allen hear today. Coll. Ben Jordans babey born Wenesday April 18th 1906. I do not know when Egbert Hoopers babey was borned but will find out.
Mon. 23- Put up fence. Mrs. Work and family hear to day. MIss Minnie Puckett come down staid all night. Bought 50 cts stamps. Sol Hays hear today. Bought from Jordan one sack meal 45 cts, 1/2 gal oil 10 cts, snuff 10cts, ink 10cts, 2 lish butter 30 cts. WellI can walk some. Getting better. Life is worth liveing. Seen John Rustey. Frost this morning. Owe allen for halling post with his teem. Bill Dozier cutting stalks.
Tue. 24- Putting up fence to day. Dock Allen hear.  Bought Mary a dress 1.00. 3 boxes tape 10cts. Candy 10 cts. Paid cash. Minnie Puckett hear. 3 lish butter 45 cts from Tom Crouch. Owe Mandey for a setting eggs. Tom Work hear today allso Jack Work.
Wed. 25- Putting up fence me, Lish, Dick and Julius. Worked till nine oclock at night.
Thur. 26- Out in the woods all day me and Dock Allen. Raind to day. Got he fence to the top of the hill.
Fri. 27- Dun nothing all day. Went Frank Allens .  John Wofford left today to parts unknown. Miss Minnie Puckett went home to day. Paid her $1.50 cts. Dock Allen went home today. Ewing hear to day. Mrs. Work and children hear to day. Worked till 10 oclock last night.
Sat. 28- Doing nothing this morning, but will go at it soon. Raind yesterday. I want benton to come home. No traid yet. Benton come home. Mrs. Puckett and daughter staid all night. Allso Patrick. Raind hard this eavening.
Sun. 29- Mrs. Puckett and daughter gon to Nashville. Dick Lovell hear. Allso Patrick. Clear this morning. Lish gon to see his granma. This is Sunday April 29th 1906. Mary remember this day. Lish did not go up the creek. He come back. Let Julius have 50 cts. I will finish out the day. Pat gon.
Mon. 30- Putting up fence Lish, Dick, Julius and Asa Dozier. Benton went to Ewings. I am a fraid he will get hurt. I dont like my dreams. Last night I spent a bad night last night. I feel tough this morning. This is the last day of April and raining hard at 2 oclock. A gulley washer. I am still no a count. I like to have died last night. Will drop dead some time if I dont get better but I want be misste, only bey a few. Wife and children will miss me but that will be all. I am still no count. Well this winds up the month of April.
