Tue. 1- Raining hard this morning. I have started out on a new month. I dont know that I will live thrue the month but life is worth liveing. But I will have to get better if I stay hear. I would like to see Jim Wilson. Will see him if I live. Dick Lovell hear today. Bill Dozier, Asa Dozier hear. Lish sick. Well it seems to me that something is rong. All sick. Mary can hardly walk. Lish sick. So am I. benton sick. Something rong. Marsh Allen, Mrs. Plunkett and daughter, and Lovell, Jake Lovells son, hear today. Putting up fence, Dick, Asa, Lish, Julius. To wet to plow. Well I will turn a new leaf.
Wen. 2- Raind to day hard. Dazey Allen hear today. Lilian Punkett hear to night. Worked on the fence me, and Bill, Asa, Dick, Lish, Julius. To wet to plow.
Thur. 3- Raind this morning hard. Collins, Dick Lovell, Tom Work, Bill Dozier and son, Dick Hooper hear today. Went to Rusteys. Mag Dozier ther. Loom put up. The first one I have seen in years. Well I think it will clear off to day. John Kellam, Miss Minnie Punkett and sister staid all night hear to night.
Fri. 4- John Kellam, Miss Minnie Punkett and sister hear. Marshel Allen hear to day. I paid him 2.00 dollars for halling rails. The boys halled railes all day. Cairy Riggan and Asa Riggan hear to night. Kellam gon home. Punketts gon home. Benton gon up to Ewings. Mary not well. Raind some today. Will stop. No. Mrs. Work and children hear today. I was glad to see Kellam. Uncle Jim Hooper hear yesterday. Jim Riggan liked to broke his leg yesterday. He is lame today.
Sat. 5- Put up fence. Raind today. John Banister and wife staid all night. Allso Patrick. Jo Hooper and family at Rusteys. Bought of Jordan one sack flour 65 cts, one sack meal 45 cts, can bakeing powder 5cts. Owe for same. Morgan Hooper hear today. All so Jim Hooper. I went to Rusteys. Sit till bed time.
Sun. 6- Banister and wife and Pat hear this morning. Raind today. Will stop till night. Jim Medows babey died Sunday May 6th 1906.
Mon. 7- Lish gon to Nashville. Jim Medows babey dead. Ewing, John Harper hear today. Benton came home to day. He staid all night with Henry Young last night. Dick Lovell staid all night with old man Bill Dozier. I am putting up fence me, Dick and Julius. Let Lish have one dollar today. Mary sick. Well I must go to work. The fence closed but the hogs still get in the feald.
Tue, 8- Lish in Nashville. All the rest in the woods. I am still working on the fence. Frost this morning. Minnie Punkett, Minnie Hooper hear to night. Jack Work hear today. Lookes like rain. Bought 3 cans of corn from Crouch. 25 cash. One glass sider 5 cts. Total 30 cts. Paid cash. Jim Riggan gon to Nashville so I hear. Well I will stop for the night. C.S. Hooper of Sams Creek Cheatham Tennessee. Minnie Hoooper, Minnie Punkett hear to night. Benton up the creek.
Wen. 9- Went to Dodges store. Bought one tin buckett 20cts. Phone 10. Total 30 cts. Minnie Hooper, Minnie Puckett gon home. Mary sick. Lish still gon.
Thu. 10- Minnie Puckett hear. Tom Work hear last night. Sit till bed time. Lish still out. Julius went to river. Lish come home. Cold, Frost this morning. Frost yesterday morning. Still cold to day.
Fri. 11- Went up the creek. Eat dinner at uncle Jim Riggans. Minnie Puckett hear. Frank Hooper and wife come over. Dun nothing all day. Mary better. At Mrs. Riggans. Cold this morning. Looked at some timber today.
Sat. 12- Well go to the election to day. Benton come home last night. Well I go to the election. Bobe Taylor got 55 votes. Carmack got 9 vots. Herman Riggan hear to night. Minnie Puckett gon home to day. Lish at Rusteys. Julius out to night. 64 votes cast today. Mrs. Work and children hear today. Allso Ewing. Patrick hear all night. McCoy hear to day so I hear.
Sun. 13- Pat gon. Hearman gon home. Lish gone up the creek. All so Dick. I have not heard from the election yet but will today. Jim Riggan and family hear today. Allso Dick Lovell and Jim Hooper. Bobe Taylor leading in race and I think 40 thousand a head.
Mon. 14- Going to plant potatoes. Marsh Allen and wife gon to Nashville Sunday. The boys out in the woods today. Minnie Puckett married Saturday 12th 1906 so I hear to Charley McCoy. Dr. Med Cullum very sick so I hear. Went to Rusteys after milk. Dazey Allen in Nashville to day. Bill Dozier plowing. Lawson Puckett staid all night. Mary sick. Planted potatoes today. The Widow Dimonds child died to day. Dazey Allen come home.
Tue. 15- Lawson gon home. Loand him $42.50 cts. Bought one sack meal from Jordan 45 cts. Mandey Crouch and Bobe Crouch hear today. Tom Work killed a rattle snake today. Jim Hooper paid me one hundred dollars today. Margret Dozier gon home. Old man Bill Dozier sick. Owe John Dillingham 75cts. Dick Hooper bought corn from Bob Lovell. Mary sick. Seen Jim Riggans wife and daughter to day.
Wen. 16- Boys makeing ties. Neal Jordan at Tom Works to day. Andrew Patrick staid all night. Dr. Allen and Lena Dozier married Tuesday May 15th 1906. Went to Rusteys. Got milk.
Thur. 17- Doing nothing today. Seen Andrew Hudgens and son this morning. Dog gon. Andrew Patrick gon. Dick plantting corn today. Seen Newsom Jordan. He was going to Pond Creek after wife. A man is a fool. All of his life if he would go as his mind direcks him he would be all right. But I am sorry to say that is not the case. He will give up and let some one control him and loose all. When ther is no lov at home he should leave the place. How meney men and woman reck thear lives on this rock. Bey not obeying thear own mind. Such homes is not happey ones whear ther is no confidence. Ther is no love at that home. Eather one or the other has ben disapointed in thear first love. In this case they live out a retched life. Well I have a new pen. Pat caught a mess of trout to day. Dr. Med Cullum no better. I fear Med will die.
Fri. 18- Worked on the house all day. The boys makeing ties. Dr. Med Cullum dying so I hear. 92 today. Hot and dry. Mclaw and wife come up to day. Marsh Allen lost five dollars so I hear. Tom Works wife sick. Hogs in the fieald today. Rubey Work hear today.
Sat. 19- Went Rusteys after milk. Seen John Harper and Emmer Crouch. The boys in the woods. If the republicans come out for free silver they will carry the state bey 40000 thousand, fortey thousand. But they have not got enough sence to see it, and I am glad of it. If they was to do so they would elect thear own senetor but they cant see it. Away would go Bobe Taylor. Shure they would hold the state. It would be a death blow to the plutorqat partey of Tennessee. Well I will stop till night. Bessy Riggan and brother hear to night. Dick Lovell hear to day. Benton come home. Julius gon up the creek. Ewings babey sick. Spunk Allen went Ashland him and wife. Raind some today but not much. Tom Works wife sick. Jim Medows mooved to the Shelt Crouch plase.
Sun. 20- Went to church. Tom Work hear to day. Big crowds at Pond Creek today. Went to Rusteys got milk. John Moor brought his boy home today. He can walk.
Mon. 21- Went to Ralph Smiths. Pairlee Lovell hear to day. Dun nothing all day. Seen Bill Brown, Bill Shearon, John Myers, Bill Work, John Moor, Boy Hooper, Stephen Long. Aunt Ann Knight sick. John sick. Dick Jordan, Pad Jordan, Frank Jordan, Boy Crouch, Jim Medows, Sam Jordan, Sam Colvin. Seen Smiths wife. Well I will stop for today. The boys makeing ties on Dick Lovells plase.
Tue. 22- Looks like rain this morning. Dick Lovell hear today. Jack Work hear today. Boys in the woods makeing ties. Annie
Hooper hear today. Bill Dozier and Asa Dozier hear today. I
dun nothing all day but wait on Mary.
Wen. 23- Bought of Jordan one sack flour 65cts, coffee 30cts. Total 95cts. Boys in the woods makeing ties. No new today so fair as I know. I will wait till night. John Hooper and family come down today to Rusteys. No rain yet. Will stop.
Thur. 24- I beleave I will go to Ashland today. Boys at work in the woods tie makeing. Went to Ashland. Paid John Duke 12 dollars. Paid Lewis Smith 1.95. Paid John Moore and Shearon 2.25 in full for hat. Pipe 10cts, ferage 10cts, pants 1.00 one dollar. Total today $17.80. Lish all night at Dick Lovells. Marsh Allen sick in bed. Seen Dock Allen.
Fri. 25- Going up the creek. Eat dinner at Mrs. Riggans. Raind today. Paid John Rustey 75cts for John Dillingham. Giver Herman Riggan one dollar to get alchol. Patrick and Dick Lovell staid all night. Seen Lawson Punkett today. I come home in the rain.
Sat. 26- Pat and Dick Lovell gon. Cloudey this morning. Pat come back. Bought of Jordan 2 lbs butter 30cts. Paid cash. The boys in the tie woods. Collins and son gon to Ky. Will stop till night. I must go to see Allen.
Sun .27- Went to church. Bill Brown, Tom Crouch, Rustey Hooper, Mintey Hooper, J.W. Hooper and wife Dick Hooper and wife, Bill Dozier and son, Ewing Hooper, Jack Work hear today. Raind to day.
Mon. 28- Went up the creek. Cold today. Raind some today. Boys makeing ties. John Hooper and wife at J.N. Hoopers. Mrs. Riggan come down today. Bought of Jordan one ham 1.25, one doze eggs 10cts. Total 1.35, Paid cash, still cold. Ralph Smith very sick. Paid to Bobe Lovell for Dick Hooper $9.00 nine dollars. May 24th 1906. $12.00 to John Duke for coffin for Minnie Pucketts babey.
Tue. 29- Went to see Smith. I think he was dying when I left. Paid to Crutchfield Anderson and Co. $15.00 fifteen dollars. Paid to E.W. Sheppard 2.40. Total 17.40 cts. 10cts for dinner $17.50cts. Mrs. Riggan hear. Jo Hollingsworth hear today. Allso ther neice. Dr. Med Cullum still alive so I hear.
Wen. 30- Well I am 61 years old today. Mrs. Riggan hear today. Mary and her mother gon to Dick Hoopers. I will stop. The widow Bell left Bill Shearons to day so I hear but I dont know how true it is. I dont know the trouble.
Thur. 31- John Hooper and wife gon home to day. Mrs. Riggan hear to day. Well I will stop till night. Boys made ties. This is the last day of May 1906.
