August 1905

Tue. 1- Made boards me and Lish. Well Mary got a letter from Miss Nodileen Sullivan to day.
Wed. 2- Doing nothing to day. Seen Charley Russell. Ewing sold his mair and mule to day for 85 dollars so I hear. Cash.
Thur. 3- Made boards, Me and Lish come home found Mary sick. Charley Jordan cut his leg so I hear. Seen Charles Lovell and wife. Lish stayed all night with Ozie Crouch. Heard nothing from Benton yet. Jo Hoopers wife still at Rusteys. Will quit for today. No. I will wright this thought. Why cant a man and his wife meete one another with a kiss at the doore of thir house in thear old age. As they once did in thir young days. Should love die becaus you are old. No it should reign as the Aangel of this life to make home happy. And to chear you on to the grave. Neaver be ashame to kiss your husband or wife if the kiss comes from the heart to the lips. Don’t fail to give it. I don’t ceare if your teeth is gon if you are ball headed and bowed down with age. Let love reign supream for God so entended that this should be so. Don’t make the great misstak and reak your home in this life and in the wourld to come, Mrs. Masha Reed died to day. One good woman gone. Poore Mash. I know he will miss her. They loved one another. I know he will be lonely the rest of his life.
Fri. 4- Doing nothing to day. Lish and Julius working the road. Mash Reeds wife buried to day.
Sat. 5- Made boards, cut logs. Halled board timber. Ewing and wife come down. Hot today, 94.  Preaching at Pond Creek to day.  Tom Works boy sick. Seen Bobe Pearce to day. Dick Hooper worked all day for me, C.S. Hooper. Dry, no rain, corn burning up. Creek dry.
Sun. 6- Ewing and wife hear. Jo Hooper and family gon home. Nan Harper hear today all so Pad Jordan’s 2 daughters.
Mon. 7- Ewing and wife gon home. Raining this morning. I am making boards. Lish not come in yet. Mrs. Work and family up today. Dick halled bolts.
Tue. 8- Makeing boards, Lish halling logs to the mill. Preaching at Pond Creek.
Wed. 9- Halled logs to the mill me, Lish, Bill and Hooper. Rained today. Got wet all of us.
Thurs. 10- Raining this morning. Doing nothing. Halled 688 feet lumber home today. Staide all night with Ozies Crouch, me and Mary. Preaching at Pond Creek, Got a letter from Keel today. Seen Dick Lovell. Julius gon to Nashville. Lit him have 10 dollars. Allso Ewing. Dick halled a load of luber 400 75 feet. Mary sick, headach.
Fri. 11- Come home me and Mary. Making boards. Dick gon to Allens after corn. Will stop till night.
Sat. 12- Lish gone to Nashville. Preaching at Pond Creek. Owe Pad Jordan for 2 dresses 1.20 one box snuff 10 cts. Tobacco 5ct soap 5 cts, total $1.40 cts. All 3 boys in Nashville. Sam Jordan hear today. Tom Work come home last night, Preaching at Sams Creek so I hear.
Sun. 13- Julius come home. Allso Ewing. John Hooper hear today.  Lish still in Nashville. John Stone and Durham had a fight so I hear. Allso a fight at Sams Creek ball game. T. Hooper and 2 of the Cannon boys on Saturday August the 12, 1905 so I hear. Mary got a letter from Lela Skipper. Lish come home. Rain
Mon. 14- Lish gon up the creek him and Julius. Went to church. Eat dinner me and Mary bey our self for the first time in years. Dick Hooper halling ties. Preaching bey Buford. Sam Jordan hear today. Went to meeting.
Tue. 15- Makeing boards. Tom Work hear to day. Dick halled a load of lumber yesterday. 496 feet.
Wed. 16- Got out rock, Julius up the creek. Tom Work gon to the shack. Dick halling ties. Preaching at Sams yesterday. Ozias and Lesley left Monday Aug 14 1905. Shelt Crouch mooved home the same day.
Thur. 17- Lish gone to Nashville. Give him 20 dollars. Jordan and wife at outs. He threaten to hit her with a stick. His wife is sick and will be confind before long. Dick halled a load of rock today. Went to meeting. John Crouches wife babtised to day. Mrs. Hale very sick, so I hear. Must go to see her.
Fri. 18 - Lish come home from Nashville. Sam Jordan hear today. Rain today. Dick halling ties. Meeting at Sams Creek. Tom Work home.
Sat. 19- Dun nothing today. Rained today. Ewing hear today. Base Ball at Sams Creek. Heard from Benton. Things come from Nashville. Preaching at Sams Creek at Night. Heard Jim Fussell was dead. Mrs. Hale no better.
Sun. 20- Preaching at Sams Creek today. Jim Johnson and Pairlle Eat dinner hear today. Barfield here today Allso Mr. Mitchell and son. Meeting closed today. Mrs. Hale no better.
Mon. 21- Mrs. Work and familey hear today. Pairlle hear today. Lish out this morning. Paid Pad Jordan in full today 3.50 cts. John Duke wife buried today.
Tue. 22- Went to Dave Knights. Julius up the creek. Paid Poter Noris 5.50 cts today. To the church 2.00 dollars .
Wed. 23- Washed today. Worked on hous. Grover Dozier come in today. Mrs. Hale no better. Mrs. Work hear today. Julius up the creek. Sick. Having chills. Pack Vick and Mitchell hear to day.
Thur. 24 - Working on the house today me and Lish. Larking Hooper hear to day. Dick Jordan hear yesterday. Hubert Hogues babey died today. Feelix Allen went to Ashland with a load of millons.
Fri. 25- Bought 2 twist tabaco 10 cts. one millon 24 cts. total 34 cts. Allen one millon 25cts. Total 59 cts. Mrs. Work, Ben Hows, Bud Hows, Rodey Hooper hear today. Julius come home.  Mary ironing today. Mrs. Hale dide today at ½ after one o’clock. Hubert Hogues babey buried today. Seen Dr. Ollifint today.
Sat. 26- Help dig Mrs. Hales grave. She was burried today. Pick Nick at Sams Creek today. Ewing Hoooper, Minnie Hooper, Delpha Butler staid all night hear last night 25 aug 1905. Mintey Hooper come from town all so Ann Hooper. Viola Hunter was at the burring.
Sun. 27- At home today. Dr. Allen down today. Ewing Hooper, Dick Lovell hear today. At home all day today. Helpt Mary cook dinner. Well I will quit for today.
Mon. 28- Julius gon up the creek. Lish gon to Pad Jordans. Clabe doing nothing. He is not fit to live. Well I will injoy life. Bought one box snuff 10cts.
Tue. 29- Went to Frank Pace. Bought one pair shoes 1.25, one 2  pair drawers 60cts, total 1.85. Got letter from Benton.
Wed. 30- Went to Ashland. Ralley tin 90 cts, one barrel lime 1.00, one brush 15 cts, tobacco 5, ferridg 30 cts, one string 10 cts. Total in 2 days. Went to Paces paid him 3.00 dollars. Total 7.35 in 2 days. Lish all night at Bills.
Thur. 31- Runing the wheal barrow cleaning out under the house. Dick Hooper halled brick. This is the last day of August 1905.
