October 1905

Sun. 1- Frank Jordan, Thurman Lovell, Ed Lovell, Bessie Riggan, Asa Riggan, James Riggan, Ewing Hooper, Dick Hooper, Bill Dozier, Agness Riggan, Carry Riggan hear today. Cloudey to day. I do nothing but cook and feed people from one year to the next. I am getting tyred of it. It cost money. Hubert Crouch, Bates Crouch, Aney Hooper, Effie Riggan, Vera Riggan hear today.
All eat dinner hear. Allso Hubert Mitchell, Mrs. Work, Miss Trudey Miller, Jack Work , Gladis Work, Rubey Work hear today. Raind today. Jim Riggan and famly gon to Eli Hoopers. On Tuesday Sept the 26th, 1905 John Owen and preacher Kerney had a fight so I hear. But I don’t know how true it is. Bad luck to the same. Nothing to it.
Mon. 2 - Looks like rain this morning. Raind nearly all day. Bessy Riggan, Carry Riggan, Asa Riggan, Effey Riggan staid all night. They all got wet. Ewing went Ashland so I hear. Fifteen days to fall.  
Tues. 3- Well I am going to do all I can for Bob Taylor for the Sinate for he did not belong to the iron bound convention. He did not help to nominate the arch trator Parker. He Parker is a worse trator to his country than Arnold. Him and Grover Cleaveland give the death blow to the Democratic Party. They are working for the King of England. They would be in thir glory if they could say God save the King. Asa Dozir hear today. Patrick hear all night.
Wed. 4- Patrick gon. Washed today. Lish cutting poles today. Mintey Hooper gon to Nashville . Benton at home. Bill Dozier hear.
Thur. 5- Herman Riggan hear today. Working on the house. Dick Hooper hear today. Mintey Hooper come from town Nashville. Dr. Hooper bit by a dog. Bad leg.
Fri. 6- Goin up the creek. Will stop till night. Mary ironing. Asa Dozier hear this morning. Mrs. Work hear today. Benton working the road also Julius. Lish cutting poles.
Sat. 7- Bill Dozier staid all night hear last night. I am doing nothing today but waiting on wife. Will stop till night. Lish working road. Benton sick today. Well I will try to kill this hornet if I can. Huff and Jencey come down from Nashville to Tom Works. Had fride chicking for dinner. Tom Work come home on the 5th. We have no Democratic Partey. We in the south as a people and esspesiley in Tennessee have aloud the ring to corrupt the hold state till it has become a shame to speak the word Democrat. It makes the face of all thinking men red with shame to think about it. Well I will hush for I get mad. But people will come to thir cences some time or be put under a king. I will put a speech in this book just like I know and prove the same as I go along.
Sun. 8- Pairlee Lovell hear today. Patrick hear allso Mrs. Work and Famley. Bill Dozier and famley hear.
Mon. 9- Worked on the house. Raind some today. Boy Crouch hear today. Allso Mrs. Work and children.
Tues. 10- Raind hard this morning. Pa what is graft. When you see that word used it is stealing that is all ther is to it. It is a shame to the American pople and honist pople.
Wed. 11- Out in the woods all day. Dun nothing. Dick Lovell, Mrs. Work and children hear today.
Thur. 12- Dun nothing. Tom Work hear today. Verge Eatherley killed Talley Wednesday Sept the 11th 1905.
Fri. 13- Went to Ashland. Staid all night  at Brandey Doziers. Charley Jacksons little girl broke her leg in 2 plases.  Seen a heap of pople. Well I will stop.
Sat. 14- At Ashland. Big crowed ther. Faney Brown married to day. Come home. Asa Dozier staid all night hear to night. Rode in the bugey with Neblett. He was going to Dickson. He will be all night.
Sun. 15- Raining this morning. Zuler King dide today. Basel Hooper hear today. Ed Harris staid all night. Raind to night.
Mon. 16- Worked on the house. Patrick hear to night. Cairey Riggan and Asa Riggan hear. Well I will remember this day and holde to my resolve thrue life. Wash Allen died to day in Nashville. Brolin Hooper and wife come to see Mrs. Riggan.
Tue. 17- Out in the woods all day. Bud went with me. Brown and Marthey went home. Mrs. Work children hear today. Eat dinner at Mrs. Riggans. Seen Poter Norris. Court going on at Ashland. Seen Rustey.
Wed. 18- Worked on the house. Raind today. Lish in the woods, Patrick and Asa Dozier hear . Lish got wet. Walsh Allen buried to day. Raining hard this eavning. Wash Allen was not buried today. Julius up the creek.
Thur. 19- Julius come home. Raining hard today. Lish gon to the burring to day. Bill Dozier, Asa Dozier, Patrick, Mrs. Work and children hear yesterday.
Fri. 20- Worked on the house. Hermon Riggan hear. Staid all night hear. Lish cutting ties. Jack Work hear.
Sat. 21- Dun nothing to day. Bought 10 lbs beefe from Rustey. Paid him cash 50 cts. Ewing Hooper, Bill Dozier, Asa Dozier hear to day. Herman Riggan and Benton gon up the creek. Lish out. Did not come in last night.
Sun. 22- Jack work hear this morning. Julius gon. Milton Pinson Killed bey a train on the Tennessee Central Rail Road to day. Bill Dozier, Asa Dozier, Dick Hooper, Anney Hooper, Jim Riggan, Marshel Allen and wife Tom Work and wife hear today. Clear and cold. Frost and ice this morning.
Mon. 23- Lish gon to Nashville. I dun nothing but fox hunt, Ewing hear today. No pay in fox hunting.
Tues. 24- Raining this morning. Benton come home. Cairey Riggan and Bessie Riggan hear today. Dun nothing today. Dick Hooper, Bill Dozier, Asa Dozier, Tom Work hear today also, Julius come home.
Wen. 25- Raind today. Went to the river. Lish come home.
Thur. 26- Worked on the house. Mrs. Work and children hear today. Clide Lovell also, Mules run away. Rustey gon to Nashville, Seen Tom Brown and John Vick.
Fri. 27- Jim Riggan gon back home today.
Sat. 28- Out in the hills all day. Ate dinner at M.C. Reeds. Seen Bill Brown.
Sun. 29- Pad Jordans boy borned 1905. Went to Ashland all night with Brandy Dozier.
Mon. 30- Mary come home. She all night at Hudgins Sundey night. Naves son better.
Tue. 31- Raind today. Got out rock me and Rustey. Seen Jim Gour today. This is the last day of the month Oct. 1905.
