Senior Airman William N. Newman was honored last week at a memorial service held at the Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery on McCrory Lane just outside of Pegram.
Family, friends and respectful strangers came to pay honor to the 23 year old hero who died disarming an IED set to explode in a heavily civilian populated area near Balad, Iraq.
Senior Airman William N. Newman is survived by his father and stepmother, Matt and Angela Newman, his wife Soyong, and brothers and sisters, Elizabeth, Emily, Janet, Jeff, Joey, Crystal and in-laws Josh and Matt.
(L) Newman’s sister Janet called her brother, “My hero, my teacher”.
(R) Sister Emily’s moving tribute to her brother brought both tears and laughter to the somber and respectful occasion.
